Mayan Calendar

People today for the most part live life by the Gregorian Calendar however that wasn't always the case. The Mayans had their own calendars, much different than the calendar we follow today. What does that mean? Some say it means the same thing that happens to our calendar at the end of every year...nothing...it starts over. However there are others who think is means something entirely different.

The Mayans had two different calendars the first is called the Tzolk'in Calendar and it's 260 days long. They also had a calendar called the Tun Calendar which was 360 days long. Revolutions of the Tun Calendar had significant meaning to certain cycles of life that the Mayans understood apparently better than we did. Many think that at this time the Earth will be near the Galactic Equator. At that same time the Sun should rise in the exact center of the galaxy which means the Earth the Sun and the Galactic Equator will be in alignment. There is one group of people who say big deal this means nothing because it is really only a "perspective" from Earth that puts all three in alignment and doesn't really mean anything at all. Then there is the group who say it's the end of the world and it's the return of Planet X - Nibiru which the Mayans and other ancient civilizations predict.
