How to Purify Water

Four Ways to Purify and Clean Water

Now that you have found water the other half of the battle is purifying it to make sure it's safe for your and your family's consumption.  The things you CAN'T see in water are the very things that can kill you.  Below are four different and fairly simple ways to make sure your water is always safe for human consumption.

Using a Gravity Powered Water Purifier to Clean Water

The easiest and safest way that I can find is to use the experience of others and use what people who have no access to clean water use.  Missionaries have been using Berkey Natural Water Filter Systems in remote regions for years. These water purifier filters are so powerful that they are able to remove food coloring from water without removing the beneficial minerals your body needs. Perfect for everyday use, and a MUST in hostile environments where electricity, water pressure or treated water may not be available.

These gravity powered water filters are the safest and easiest way to get water in an emergency situation or in a hostile situation where you are not sure if you will have access to clean potable water for human consumption.  With this gravity powered filter all you have to do is put the water you find in the top and then just wait for it to trickle out the bottom ready for you and your family to drink.  This is the safest way and easiest way for you to purify water to make it safe for human consumption.  These gravity powered filters offered are used by missionaries all over the world to take the limited amount of water available to them and make it safe for human consumption.  Yes you can try another way but I prefer to not have to worry one bit about the water I drink. These have been proven effective year after year to provide those in the most remote regions with clean safe drinking water.  The best thing about these gravity powered water filters is they have can have washable filters that can last you nearly forever.  Even if you choose to use the non renewable filters they last for a long amount of time and can supply several people with clean potable water for several days.  Some of these water purifiers can provide up to 26 Gallons an hour (Depending on the how clean the water is.)

Using Chemicals to Purify Water

There are tablets that you can put into water and they claim to sanitize water to make it safe for drinking.  There are also proven ways to clean water without the advice of some marketing guy.  If you can’t find the tablets that are made specifically for purifying water then bleach is your best bet.  Yes I know bleach and water sound disgusting but it doesn’t take very much bleach to make water safe for drinking.  Keep reading to know how to save your life and that of your family with safe drinking water with only bleach to clean you water.

There are terrible times when we cannot take the time to boil our water to make sure the water we are consuming is clean.  In times like these we have the wonderful aid of certain chemicals.  We have water tablets and the cheapest way to produce clean and safe drinking water without heat is household bleach.  You can get several gallons of bleach for a few bucks.  The best thing about bleach is that you can use it for cleaning of water and cleaning surfaces and clothing just make sure the bleach you stock up on is ….. active

Using Heat to Sterilize Water

All you have to do is boil water to kill all the garbage that could be living inside it.  The boiling point of water is higher than the level in which stuff can live in your water so the point in which water starts boiling; the bad stuff is already dead.  Again, you want to use a bandana or some piece of cloth to strain any sediment that might be in the water.  Remember that boiling water will NOT neutralize chemical contaminants.

If you have nothing, no water, no filters, nothing you still have a chance believe it or not.  As long as you have a clear plastic sheet you can make a solar still.
