ATVs - Perfect survival vehicles

When I think about survival, I think about all the difficulties associated with the lack of basic needs and the discomfort. Specifically, I think about all the walking, carrying, and transporting stuff long distances without the help of anything but my own two feet.  A horse would be great too but think about all the extra materials you need in order to care for the horse.   You are limited by space and how much you can carry when using an ATV but since it is smaller it can go on trails and in areas that a car wouldn't be able to go.  In event of a crisis where you everyone has to evacuate, the roads will be packed.  Those on motorcycles, with 4 wheel drive and on smaller ATV will have the advantage.  Yes, all those people in cars will have more stuff but it won't do them a bit of good if they can't get out of the danger zone.  Keep this in mind when planning for emergencies.

The draw back of ATVs are they do require maintenance, ATV accessories and fuel.  There are conversation packs that allow ATV's, like most automobiles, which will allow you to operate your ATV with alternative fuels.  If you are worried about fueling your ATV, you can get conversion kits that will allow your ATV to run of used grease, ethanol, and I am not sure if they have these for ATV's yet, but you can power a lot of farm machinery using hydrogen these days.    (The minute they have a solar powered ATV, that will be the ultimate survival vehicle, IMO.)   You can buy extra parts for future need or scavenge parts from broken down ATVs or other small machines.

ATVs are low maintenance, durable and very versatile which is needed in every survival situation.   They can go over just about any terrain.  They are fast and agile.  They are affordable.
