There Are All Sorts of Preppers

Disaster Preparedness ManualIt's hard to know how much food you need to store for one year.  Regardless of how you feel about religion, the LDS has created a a check list for the proper amount of food you need to survive for one year.  They provide a manual/ check list that helps you store enough food for an  adult male at 2,300 calories per day.

I do not claim to understand the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints but if I understand correctly, they recommend all members of their faith stock enough food for one year and be prepared for whatever disaster may occur.  The preparedness manual is very comprehensive.  Regardless of faith the information can be used in anyone's disaster preparedness planning.

The guide includes but is not limited to:

  • Preparedness Test
  • How to Make a 72 Hour Kit - A list of emergency supplies needed to make a complete kit
  • Food Storage
  • A Complete Break Down on How Much Weight of Each Food Type You Need To Store For Each Family Member - Grains, Beans, Legumes, Dairy, Meet, Sugar, Salt Etc.
  • Basic Food Storage List
  • Prepping Can Be Expensive - Purchasing schedule, what to buy and when.
  • Common Mistakes In Food Storage
  • Foods That Store Well
  • Where To Purchase Emergency Food Stores
  • How to Grow And Use Sprouts
  • Pros and Cons of Freeze-Dried, Dehydrated, MRE, Food Bars, & Basic Commodities.
  • Info About Food Storage Containers
  • Oxygen Absorbers
  • How to Identify Spoiled Food - Molds and Bacteria
  • Recommended Food Storage Times
  • Water Treatment/Purification
