Survival Skills - Why Should I?

Nearly everyone runs into a deadly natural disaster or weather once in their life.

Are you going to know what to do that one time when you or you and your family encounter danger?

Survival is not something we think about often. Many times when we think about survival it’s in the context of weekend camping trips or a few hours without power. At most we might think about being without power for a few days. In most emergencies there is help from both local and Federal government shortly after the crisis. Most often, even in the worst case scenario there is help there providing the victims with clean water, food and shelter and sanitation facilities if they need it. Most of the time…and for now.

What if the help didn’t come? What if we were on our own to provide for ourselves and our families? Could you do it? Are you prepared to do it you have to? Do you even know how to? Yes the government can normally help us if one or two crisis hit but what if we are hit with multiple crises at once? What if the government is no longer functioning well enough to help? Given the recent break out of the swine flu in Mexico, what if the best thing to do is to just avoid contact with everyone for a few weeks and stay in your home? Going to get food could expose you and your family to something that can kill them. All because you didn’t think ahead and prepare. Unfortunately for me I feel it is better to be prepared than to be sorry. I guess it’s the Boy Scout in me. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best….

We have insurance for everything else in life. health insurance, home owners insurance, flood insurance, car insurance, you can even get insurance for your phone but the one thing most people don’t have insurance for are the most essential things in life. What about food and water? You can’t go more than a few days without clean water. Yes there is plenty of water around but is it clean? Just because it’s clear doesn’t mean it’s clean and dirty water can kill you faster than no water. You can’t go more than a few weeks without food. They say you can go a few weeks but that last couples of weeks have got to be pretty miserable. Sounds like it would be a slow painful death . What if you can’t travel out for food? Say there is a flu pandemic and going out for food is risking you and your family. Finally, believe it or not when tragedy strikes many times it’s not the lack of food or water that kills the most people. It’s the lack of sanitation. It’s disease and sickness that do the killing. It is critical that you know how to keep you and your family safe from disease and other pandemics. If you have enough supplies and knowledge you can provide for you and your family and just by having a plan you are way ahead of most people.

This website is dedicated to survival skills you might need, Survival supplies you might need and the situations that you might need them in. There are a lot of crazy and not so crazy theories as to why we need to be prepared. This website is not to judge, just provide you with the info you need to be prepared. You will be able to find information and additional resources about those theories so you can decide for yourself and create the plans that you think you need to prepare for. I know this stuff sounds silly but a few hours of education and some basic supplies can mean the difference between life and death. Some people say it’s only conspiracy theorists and wackos who prepare for the worst. I say it’s not paranoid to be prepared for anything. Natural disasters happen all the time and it’s only a matter of time before something even worse happens.

The Most Important Thing When Planning for an Emergency Situation

Despite whatever someone tells you to do to survive in any situation you have to remember that no situation is the same and you have to think about the things that will affect you the most in your environment. If you live on a farm, food might not be a problem but protecting that food might be. If you live up North you might want to get more fire starter stuff or food supplies than someone who lives down South.

There are some things that everyone will need regardless of where they live. If there are problems there are JUST some thing you and your family will need to survive and they are the essentials; Water, Food, Shelter, Sanitation and Protection.Don't forget medication that family members might depend on as well...

What do you think we missed?
